Speakerbus’ iTurret ships to five continents in its first year

Speakerbus, a global leader in trader voice solutions for the equity, capital markets and wealth management segments of the financial industry, today announced that in its first year of deploying iTurret, the high-performance global trading system was shipped to customers in five continents for a diverse range of applications, including investment banking, hedge fund management and spread betting to energy and commodity trading.  Adding to its compelling value proposition of developing a tight integration with both Avaya and Cisco’s session initiation protocol (SIP) communication architectures, Speakerbus consistently introduced new capabilities to the iTurret to continue delivering advanced turret functionality with a lower cost of ownership.

The iTurret uses a host IP-PBX to reduce cost and backroom infrastructure, compared to traditional voice trading platforms. Speakerbus’ iTurret technology creates a distributed solution by processing voice traffic and user input at the desk endpoint, reducing capacity loading on the IP-PBX with the added benefit of increased resilience.  By reducing the backroom equipment footprint, clients can reduce cost, minimise complexity and optimise support skills.

In its first year, iTurret evolved to be even more responsive, improving customer relations and employee productivity on the front and back end.  Specifically, Speakerbus introduced:

• Barge-in indication, which uses SIP messaging to enable real-time line participation information to turret and phone users, assuring that conversations are confidential.
• Ringing-call and held-call prioritisation via enhanced dynamic keys, which enables multiple positions to hold and pickup calls to increase speed and productivity among trading teams.
• Hardware development that includes a soft key expansion module (iE816 Side Car) and 8-channel brokerage speaker expansion module (iE801 Side Car) (due for release in 2010) to cater to different markets and individual user needs.

Andy Wodhams, Speakerbus managing director said, “iTurret’s pace of deployment, even in the worst economic climate in recent memory, has demonstrated our product value to the financial markets. We look forward optimistically to the second year as we increase our routes to market alongside our Cisco and Avaya business partners.”

Speakerbus will demonstrate the iTurret at Cisco Live in Las Vegas from June 27 to July 1 in booth #772
